Belle Starr, born Myra Maybelle Shirley in Carthage, Missouri, was the victim of a lot of gossip—some true, some partially true, and some patently false—and, when her life was cut short just two days prior to her forty-first birthday, much of that gossip became the official record. These days, historians have dug deeper into Belle's story and found that many of the stories printed as fact had little or no basis in reality. In fact, the first and most famous of those sources was a book by Richard K. Fox, published in 1889, the year she was murdered, which didn't even spell her name correctly.

What is the name of Fox's book about Belle Starr?
