This southwestern Oklahoma town’s name is one of those newcomers often learn during tornado season. It’s not pronounced quite the way it’s spelled, for one thing. With a population hovering around two hundred, it’s also not a spot many visitors will see by chance, unless they’re fishing for crappie at Lake Vanderwork. It was named for a respected Kiowa chief who was laid to rest in the nearby Rainy Mountain Indian Cemetery.
What is the name of this Great Plains Country town?
