Each week, Oklahoma Today staffers comb through their calendars to find a handful of great events happening across the state. Get out! See Oklahoma! And be sure to let us know what you find, either here or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @oklahomatoday.
Oklahomans know a thing of two about top-tier softball. The Women’s College World Series is basically a springtime tradition here, and this year is no different. The nation’s most impressive teams return to OKC with hopes of taking the national title. This is one of the NCAA’s fastest-growing championships, and if you make it to a game, you’ll definitely find out why.

The weather is warming up, and Bartlesville’s SunFest promises to make the most of it. This longtime festival is known to some as “Oklahoma’s biggest outdoor picnic.” It’s a weekend of family-friendly entertainment with live music, arts and crafts, children’s games, food, and the annual SunFest Car Show. There’s even a petting zoo and pony rides for the kiddos. So get your sunscreen, and prepare to indulge in yummy fair food while you browse through booths and listen to live performances.
May 29-31. Admission, free.

The Stirling Classic Scottish Festival in Yukon is all about the vibrant spirit of Scottish culture. It’s full of the usual things you expect at an outdoor festival, along with blacksmithing, Highland cattle, sheep herding, bagpipes, traditional dancers, and lots of kilts. Not to mention the Highland Games, where athletics showcase their might in events like the caber toss, hammer throwing, and stone putting. You’ll get bonus points if you don your own tartan kilt—or at least know what a caber toss is.
May 29-31. Tickets, $7-$15.

Claremore is getting the Sunny Dayz Mural Festival treatment. Downtown becomes one giant canvas while dozens of artists create colorful murals in real time. Sunny Dayz began in 2021, bringing unique art to various communities across Oklahoma and spotlighting the talent of women and gender minorities through public art. While the artists do their thing, visitors can enjoy live music, poetry, dancing, vendor market, and food trucks. It’s not every day you get to witness a city come to life with color right in front of you!

Think you have the best Bigfoot call? Then you’ll definitely want to head to Tulsa for the Bigfoot on 66 Festival. This Mother Road celebration combines local art, legendary folklore, and the weird corners that help make Route 66 so iconic. You can expect artsy workshops, scavenger hunts, a towering Bigfoot cutout, and of course, a Bigfoot calling contest. It’ll be fun for the whole family, though we can’t guarantee any real Sasquatch sightings.
