For five days each June, Oklahoma City becomes the center of the independent film world during the deadCenter Film Festival, Oklahoma’s largest and only Oscar-qualifying film festival. Named one of the “20 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker Magazine, the festival brings together filmmakers, industry professionals, and movie lovers for screenings, panels, parties, and networking events. Expect a packed lineup of short films, documentaries, comedies, thrillers, and independent features from Oklahoma and around the globe. Founded by filmmakers, deadCenter is known for championing emerging talent while creating a welcoming atmosphere for audiences eager to discover the next great film.

Whether you’re a serious numismatist or someone who just enjoys a good treasure hunt, the Tulsa Coin Show offers a chance to explore the fascinating world of coins, currency, and collectibles. Held at Tulsa’s Ruffin Event Center, this annual event brings together dealers and collectors from across the country with more than two hundred tables featuring rare coins, paper money, bullion, and other numismatic treasures. Visitors can browse, buy, sell, and learn from experts while discovering pieces that span centuries of history.

See creativity take flight at the Oklahoma Contemporary Dance Festival, a showcase celebrating the artistry and athleticism of contemporary dance. Hosted by Perpetual Motion Dance in their Oklahoma City studio, the festival brings together regional choreographers and performers of all ages and backgrounds for an inspiring community performance featuring a wide variety of styles and perspectives. From expressive modern works to breathtaking aerial choreography, audiences can experience the power of movement as dancers take to both the stage and the air.

Cool off along Route 66 at the Chandler Ice Cream Festival, a sweet summertime tradition celebrating its twenty-fifth year. Held at Tilghman Park, this family-friendly event features plenty of free ice cream courtesy of the local Hiland Dairy, giving visitors a chance to sample a favorite warm-weather treat while enjoying an afternoon of community fun. The festival also includes a homemade ice cream contest, where competitors can show off their best frozen creations for a chance to win cash prizes. Beyond the ice cream, guests can enjoy live entertainment, browse vendors, and keep the kids busy with inflatable attractions and a wet zone designed to beat the Oklahoma heat.

Welcome the season with the Toompalli’ Festival at the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur. This annual event celebrates the arrival of summer through Chickasaw culture, history, language, art, food, and family-friendly activities. Visitors can enjoy cultural demonstrations, live musical performances, hands-on crafts, and activities designed for all ages while learning more about Chickasaw traditions and heritage. The festival also includes special summer-themed activities such as make-and-take crafts, face painting, herb seedling giveaways, and children's activities.
