Bring out the cake, light the candles, and celebrate what would have been the 147th birthday of one of the most iconic Oklahomans. The Will Rogers Birthday Party, beginning 3 p.m. at Claremore’s Will Rogers Memorial Museum does let all who attend enjoy a free slice of birthday cake. There will also be inflatables, fun activities, and plenty of people receptive to hearing your favorite Will Rogers quote.

As we put Halloween in the rearview mirror, the full beauty of fall foliage is beginning to take hold across the state. There are few places where that is more apparent than in the Kiamichi Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma. The Talihina Fall Foliage Festival around the town’s Talihina Ag Barn celebrates all the ambers, browns, and golds of the season. A two-day kite show will put additional colors into the sky. Peruse a quilt show, car show, vendor booths, and food trucks while the kids occupy themselves with inflatables and other fun activities.
November 6-7. Admission, free.

In Oklahoma, the three most popular spectator sports are football, basketball, and the weather. The last in this trio has its big moment this Saturday in Norman during the National Weather Festival. Each year, a crowd gathers at the National Weather Center to meet the local celebrities that are our news station weather people and storm chasers, inspect the storm chasing vehicles and equipment that come closest to the action, and tour the center itself—home to important research and forecasting that impacts the whole country.
November 7 Admission, free.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur hosts Native American Heritage Day this Saturday, celebrating the culture of the Chickasaw and other Indigenous nations located in Oklahoma. Live music and entertainment, cultural demonstrations, and film screenings can be enjoyed. There will also be a pumpkin patch and plenty of delicious food to sample. Pick up something from the multitribal art market before you leave.
