Take a closer look at the natural world during BioBlitz at Bickham-Rudkin Park in Edmond. Throughout September, participants can join a volunteer-led nature survey to find and identify as many species as possible, helping document the plants and animals that call the forty-nine-acre park home. Explore multi-use trails, an eight-acre fishing pond, gardens, trees, and wildlife habitat while getting to know the biodiversity right in your backyard.

Take a trip to Jay for the Delaware County Free Fair, an old-fashioned county fair celebrating the area’s agricultural heritage. Check out livestock events for all ages, browse exhibits and vendors, dig into fair food, and bring the kids for activities throughout the fairgrounds. Livestock competitors will also vie for numerous awards, making this a celebration of both community and agriculture.

Head to historic Medicine Park for The Blues Ball, a three-day celebration of blues and folk music on the Town Center Mainstage in Hitchin’ Post Park. The weekend kicks off Friday and continues with performances throughout the weekend. Bring your lawn chairs, settle in with friends, and dance along to the soulful sounds at Medicine Park’s longest-running music festival. Headliners include Jonathon Boogie Long, Dustin Arbuckle & The Damnations, and Ike & Brenda All-Star Blues Review.

The town of Grove hosts BullFest at the Lake, where professional bull riders go head-to-head with bucking bulls along the lakeshore at Wolf Creek Park. Come early for live music before the action begins, then grab a bite from one of the food trucks and a beverage from the beer garden while taking in an evening of buck-wild Western entertainment.

Grab your cowboy hat and giddy up to Henryetta for the Jim Shoulders Living Legends Rodeo, a two-night celebration honoring the legendary Henryetta cowboy. Watch cowboys and cowgirls compete in bareback riding, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and team roping. Young rodeo fans can also get in on the action with Mutton Bustin’ before the main event. This coincides with the Henryetta Labor Day Celebration, so enjoy fair atmosphere, food, and rides downtown between rodeo events at Historic Nichols Park.
