Each week, Oklahoma Today staffers comb through their calendars to find a handful of great events happening across the state. Get out! See Oklahoma! And be sure to let us know what you find, either here or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @oklahomatoday.

Buck Wild

While silver screen cowboys like John Wayne may have been the face of the Old West, it was performers like Gordon W. “Pawnee Bill” Lillie who were the beating heart. During Showmanship & the Wild West: Oklahoma’s Wild West Exhibitions at the Pawnee Bill Ranch & Museum in Pawnee, visitors can view artifacts, art, and more that show the grit and determination of these brave cowpokes.
Through August 31. Admission, $4-$7.

Night Moves

Yoga is great for the body, but it’s often an activity for early risers. Fitness-minded night owls will certainly have a hoot at Full Moon Yoga at Factory Obscura. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the Oklahoma City art installation’s Wonder Room will set a relaxing vibe for slow, restorative stretching, sound healing, and gentle movement perfect for all skill levels.
May 12. Registration, $25.

Game Changers

Oklahoma has no shortage of impressive athletes, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a more inspiring group than those competing in the Special Olympics Summer Games. Visitors can watch these elite athletes go head to head in bowling, bocce, cheerleading, cornhole, tennis, basketball, and more for three days at Stillwater High School.
May 14-16. Admission, free.

Pike Spike

No one tells a great story like a fisherman, so the folks participating in Oklahoma oldest and largest fishing tournament are sure to have plenty of scale tales. During the Canton Lake Walleye Rodeo, aquatic adventurers can win prizes for the five largest walleye or one of ten other species. They also can catch a tagged fish worth between $20 to $500. Those who’d rather not get wet also can play bingo, watch the Walleye Rodeo Parade, shop tons of local vendors, and enjoy hamburgers and ice cream after the awards ceremony.
May 15-18. Admission, free.

The Far Out East

Oklahoma’s geographical landscape is beautiful in part because it’s so varied. The same could be said for the cultural landscape—it’s all the different peoples that make the state intricate and interesting. Tulsa’s Asian American Night Market celebrates Oklahoma’s Eastern influences with food, music, and live performances including Japanese Taiko drumming, K-Pop dance, Kendo martial arts, and lots more.
May 16. Admission, free.
