OKC's Exhibit C art gallery doubles size in new location

3 minutes

Exhibit C has a brand new place in Oklahoma City’s art scene. The reimagined gallery, which had previously operated in Bricktown since 2014, opened in its new location on March 7 in Oklahoma City’s Horizons District. This hundred-acre area just south of Interstate 40 is home to the First Americans Museum and the new OKANA waterpark resort (which, like Exhibit C, is owned by the Chickasaw Nation).

Just a short stroll from the hotel, and directly across from the resort’s recently opened Smokehouse Social barbecue restaurant (PSA: try the beef ribs and burnt-end queso), this bright serene space measures in at 10,000 square feet, a huge upgrade from its 3,500 square-foot former Bricktown location. With ample parking lots and a parking garage next door that’s free for the first four hours, there’s no longer any meter-feeding necessary when you stop by.

Emergence: Explorations of New Horizons is the gallery’s featured inaugural exhibit, a celebration of Exhibit C’s fresh start and a showcase of contemporary Chickasaw talent, with artists Addison Karl, Billy Hensley, Brenda Kingery, Brent Greenwood, Dustin Mater, Erin Shaw, Joanna Underwood Blackburn, Lance Straughn, Lisa Hudson, Margaret Roach Wheeler, and Mike Larsen. Beyond this special collection of works on display through October 27, visitors will find pieces from Indigenous artists of many more tribes and nations throughout the space.

Exhibit C is located at 645 First Americans Boulevard in Oklahoma City. Hours are Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (405) 767-8900 or visit exhibitcgallery.com.
