Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit quite like a roadside glow, and the Ardmore Festival of Lights delivers just that with one of southern Oklahoma’s largest and most beloved Christmas light displays. Cruise your way through more than one hundred and fifty animated light features in Ardmore’s Regional Park, where cheerful scenes and dazzling colors turn winter nights into something magical. Tune your car radio to your favorite Christmas station and soak up the sights with family and friends, or make a festive stop on your way home. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

Kick off your holiday celebrations with a jazzy twist at A Big Band Christmas, a festive musical evening at Miami’s historic Coleman Theatre. Now celebrating its twentieth anniversary, this lively concert features the Tulsa Praise Orchestra performing timeless Christmas favorites with big band flair—think swinging horns, upbeat rhythms, and plenty of toe-tapping moments to put you in the spirit of the season.

Step into a unique holiday tradition at Firing of the Christmas Guns at Historic Fort Reno in El Reno, where folklore meets festive flair in a way you won’t find anywhere else. Rooted in a German-American tradition believed to dispel evil spirits before the holidays, this free event features the sounds of cannons and historic firearms firing through the crisp winter air. Bring the family to the indoor after party for storytelling, history, snacks, and a visit with Saint Nicholas. It’s equal parts quirky, historic, and memorable fun.

Get into the holiday spirit with the Medicine Park Christmas Parade, a small-town celebration that feels like stepping into a Hallmark movie. Festive floats, horses, antique cars, and the busiest guy of the season, Santa Claus himself, roll down East Lake Drive in this charming southwest Oklahoma mountain town, bringing cheer to all. The fun kicks off with the parade lineup around 1:30 p.m. before the procession steps off at 2 p.m. After the march, you’ll find carnival fun, games, and seasonal treats to keep the festivities going. There’s no entry fee—just bring your joy for the season!

Celebrate the turn of the season at Winter Solstice Weekend at Oklahoma City’s First Americans Museum, a free cultural event marking the shortest day of the year with meaningful experiences and community connection. Wander the Hall of the People, Festival Plaza, and FAM Mound from 3–6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, where interpretive walks, round dances, and reflective moments draw inspiration from Indigenous traditions tied to the winter solstice. The main highlight? Watching the slanting winter sun set through the mound tunnel around 5:15 p.m., a serene reminder of nature’s rhythms. Bring blankets or chairs, enjoy warm treats from local food vendors, and immerse yourself in this peaceful seasonal celebration. Admission is free but make sure to RSVP online beforehand.
