Oklahoma has plenty of experience with both Sonic and booms. We were absolutely part of the oil boom, for one thing, and the first Sonic Drive In opened in Shawnee in 1953. Even our beloved Thunder arrived, they were called the Sonics. But putting sonic together with boom might bring back bad memories for some Oklahomans. In 1964, the Federal Aviation Administration selected Oklahoma City for a six-month test to see how used to sonic booms people would get. By the end, 1,253 sonic booms were unleashed in the skies of OKC. Residents didn't love it, but the real losers were the city's two then-tallest buildings, which suffered damage to 147 windows.
What were the two tallest buildings in Oklahoma City during the sonic boom tests?
