Each week, Oklahoma Today staffers comb through their calendars to find a handful of great events happening across the state. Get out! See Oklahoma! And be sure to let us know what you find, either here or on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @oklahomatoday.*

Lions and Tinsel and Bears, Oh My!

One of my favorite holiday traditions is Oklahoma City Zoo's Safari Lights. There's something so magical about seeing the zoo transform into OKC’s "mane" Christmas attraction, glowing with giant wildlife lanterns, animated displays and plenty of photo ops that are "otterly" adorable. You can cruise the drive-thru or opt for the walk-thru adventure with interactive lights, s'mores, musical shows, and weekend photos with Santa. And special nights like VIP sleigh rides, adults-only mingles, and sensory-friendly evenings make it all the better. Online reservations are required, so grab your herd and get ready for a holiday tradition that’s bound to be wildly fun.
Through January 4. Walk-through admission, $14-18 per person or drive-thru admission, $60-78 per vehicle.

Waddle Till You Wobble

If you're the kind of family or friend group that thinks Thanksgiving isn't complete without a 5K (first off, good for you), then the Edmond Turkey Trot is for you. Lace up your sneakers and head to downtown Edmond on Thanksgiving morning for a chip-timed 5K run or a one-mile Family Wobble. Bring the whole crew, your stroller, or even your leashed pup, and show off your festive flair because the best Turkey Trot costume takes home a prize. Plus 100 percent of proceeds benefit Turning Point Ministries and the YMCA. It's a fun, festive, slightly sweaty way to kick off the holiday.
November 27. Registration, $29 for 5K. $17 for One-Mile Family Wobble.

Comes with the Territory

We all know the story of Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim… and Charlie? That's where this version gets its Oklahoma twist. Set in Guthrie just after the Land Run of 1889, A Territorial Christmas Carol follows the Moody family as a mysterious stranger arrives one snowy night to share a story that changes their holiday forever. For more than thirty years, this beloved Pollard Theatre adaptation has charmed over 150,000 patrons with its heart, humor, and historical flair. With snow machines and gorgeous sets set against Guthrie's Territorial Christmas in the "Christmas Capital of Oklahoma," it's a must-see for families looking for a holiday tradition.
November 28-December 21. Tickets, $30-$35. Children under twelve: $10.

Brat Winter

Man, there’s nothing like a Christkindl Market…the smell of pretzels in the air, warm gluhwein (mulled wine) in hand, and twinkling lights everywhere. Step into a storybook European Christmas at the Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Center in Bartlesville November 28-30. The Bavarian-inspired market is full of handcrafted gifts, ornaments, and treats from local artisans, perfect for finding something unique. Sip on hot chocolate, nibble on bratwurst and pastries, and catch Santa and Mrs. Claus spreading holiday cheer, while kids enjoy crafts, games, and storytimes. Whether you’re shopping, snacking, or taking in the local music, the Christkindl Market is an event "yule" be sad to miss.
November 28-30. Tickets, $10. Kids, $2.

Nogging Off

Are you feeling in the holiday "spirits?" Tulsa’s thirteenth annual First Lady Nog & Glögg Off is back as the ultimate taste test of the season. Over a dozen restaurants and bars in the Tulsa Arts District will compete to see whose eggnog and glögg (spiced mulled wine) reigns supreme and wins the coveted egg trophy. Live music, hors d’oeuvres, and festive cheer make this a holiday tradition in the making. Plus, every sip supports the Emerson Montessori Elementary Art Department, so you can give back while discovering your new favorite seasonal drink. Must be twenty-one or older; advanced tickets recommended.
November 30. Tickets, $50.
