Austen’s Powers

Watch as Elizabeth Bennett, George Knightley, and more of Jane Austen’s cherished characters come to life on the stage. Jane Austen's Christmas Cracker, presented by Oklahoma Shakespeare on the Paseo, debuts this Friday at the Indoor Black Box Theatre in Oklahoma City's Paseo Arts District. This is not the kind of show to passively sit back and watch. Be prepared for dancing and caroling, and come dressed in period appropriate attire if you desire. December 7-December 23. Tickets, $25-$42. okshakes.org

Reindeer District

Ardmore’s Depot District is home to some of the south-central Oklahoma town’s best restaurants and local shopping, and this week it also transforms into one of the area’s premier hubs of Christmas joy. Depot Nights & Christmas Lights is a celebration occurring three consecutive December Thursdays featuring carriage rides, shopping, live music, and even the opportunity to pet live reindeer. Those not in the spirit prior to attending will leave holly and jolly thanks to the gorgeous Main Street light displays. December 7, 14, and 21. Admission, free. ardmoremainstreet.com

Festive Floating

There are many a Christmas parade in Oklahoma, but few others that do it on boat. The Grand Lake Christmas Light Boat Parade puts a nautical twist on the holiday tradition. Boats decked out in colorful and creative holiday light displays will depart from the Cherokee Yacht Club glimmering in the reflective lake as they sail through the night. Bring a chair and some warm blankets as you watch and wonder, ‘What if Santa was a sailor?’ A preceding dock party begins at 3 p.m. December 9. Admission, free. 360grandlake.com

Have A Cookie

Santa Claus makes more deliveries in a single night than Amazon pulls off in a whole year, and all for the payment of cookies and milk. To be fair, there are a lot of good cookies out there. If, like Santa, baked goods are your motivation for a job well done, bring your holiday shopping list to Eufaula for their Cookie Crawl. Sample delicious homemade cookies as you progress your way through the shops in Eufaula’s downtown. Pick up a ballot and vote for your favorites at the end of the tour—there will be prizes for the top local bakers. December 9. Admission, free. chambereufaulachamberofcommerce.com

Nine Candles

All are welcome to attend this year’s giant menorah lighting at the OKC Community Chanukah Festival at Scissortail Park. The Chabad Community Center hosts a celebration featuring music, plenty of kosher treats, carnival entertainment, and holiday characters that will delight the whole family. Whether it’s in observance of your own Chanukah holiday or a chance to experience new cultural traditions, all are welcome to join in fellowship. December 10. Admission, free. jewishokc.com
