Lovers of books and the library always have the dates of the next Friends of the Metropolitan Library System Annual Book Sale circled on their calendars. The sale returns this year to the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City with a massive selection of fiction and nonfiction books, along with magazines, movies, music, and all sorts of media. Collectors should keep an eye out for the Better Books Area, where rare and hard-to-find books are kept.

Get ready to sing along as Stillwater-formed rockers The All-American Rejects bring their signature pop-rock sound to Lucas Oil Live at WinStar World Casino. The world would be a lot less sweet without the honey bee. Show your thankfulness (and maybe pick up some sweet treats in the process) by attending this year’s Honey Bee Festival at the Slaughterville Farmers Market in Slaughterville. Lee from informative bee exhibits and peruse the vendor booths. Live music, food trucks, and carnival games will make this a buzz-worthy community activity.

Experience an evening of rock favorites when Matchbox Twenty performs at the Choctaw Grand Theater in Durant. The Grammy-nominated band has built a career around memorable hits like “3AM,” “Push,” “Unwell,” “Bent,” and “If You’re Gone,” earning worldwide recognition and selling more than 40 million records. Fans can enjoy a night of powerful vocals, catchy melodies, and the songs that have made Matchbox Twenty a defining name in modern rock.

The pink-eyed purple hull pea might not be the most well-known legumes out there, but the Pink-Eyed Purple Hull Pea Festival in IXL is here to show us why they deserve a lot more shine. IXL is one of Oklahoma’s historic Black towns, and the pink-eyed pea (resembling the more famous black-eyed variety) is a crop with African roots that has played a big role in Southern agriculture. The festival will be a celebration of Black farming and culture. Participate in a cooking demonstration and bring home some fresh produce to use at home.
