It is basically Super Bowl weekend for people who love Oklahoma music. The free Norman Music Fest returns to downtown Norman, combining the best buzzworthy homegrown talent with national indie and alternative acts. This year's big headliners include the Brooklyn-based band Momma, popular Oklahoma City emo rockers Ben Quad, and the other-worldly acoustic guitar sounds of Hayden Pedigo. The action takes place at several different stages and venues around the downtown area, so walk around and discover your next music obsession.
April 23-25. Admission, free.

It will be a bit of a wooly situation in Claremore this weekend, but that’s not a bad thing! The Woolly Weekend at Shepherd's Cross, a working sheep farm in Claremore, is an annual sheep shearing celebration where guests can get a behind the scenes look at how these cute critters are de-fluffed and get a behind the scenes look at how the wool is processed after. There will also be demonstrations for felting, knitting, and weaving on looms.
**April 23-25. Admission, free (suggested donation). Classes, $25-$79. [shepherdscross.com

As the actor Ray Milland once pontificated while playing the role of homicidal ex-tennis pro Tony Wendice, people don’t commit murder on credit. Similarly, it will be a good idea to show up with some cash when you head to the Southwest Playhouse in Clinton to buy a ticket for their production of Dial M for Murder. Based on the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock directed film starring Milland and Grace Kelly (which itself was based on the 1952 play by British playwright Frederick Knott), this thrilling tale of plotted murder feels like something ripped from your favorite true crime podcast.
**April 24-26. Tickets, $16-$20.

There is nothing like a walk through nature to rejuvenate your love of trees, which is exactly what they’re hoping for during the National Arbor Day Tree Walk at Quartz Mountain State Park in Lone Wolf. Visit one of the most beautiful locales in southwestern Oklahoma and embark on an easy guided nature walk where you will learn about the different types of trees that call Quartz Mountain home. And speaking of national environmental days, there are a bunch of Earth Day activities going on at state parks this week. Give a call to your favorite State Park Nature Center and see what their plans are.
**April 24. Parking, $10. [facebook.com
Fans of the 1961 children’s novel Where the Red Fern Grows by Oklahoma-born writer Wilson Rawls won’t want to miss Tahlequah’s Red Fern Festival, a community street fair honoring the legacy of this literary classic. Enjoy hound dog field trials, old-fashioned children’s games, vintage cars, live music, food and vendor booths, and so much more. We don’t know how you felt about the book in school, but you can count on a happy ending and laughter at this event.
