Oklahomans take their lakes pretty seriously. We may be landlocked—it’s about 300 miles from the far southeast Oklahoma town Tom to Port Arthur, Texas on the Gulf of Mexico—but we’re extremely proud of our bodies of water. In fact, there’s one city in Kay County that’s so enamored with its lake that more than half the town’s area is in the water. Named for a Native American tribe that calls it home, this farm community-turned oil boomtown-turned vacation destination has been around since before statehood.

What is the name of this northern Oklahoma city?
