Like all great businessmen, Sylvan Goldman was looking for a way to sell more stuff. Goldman's business was groceries and in 1937 the Ardmore native introduced his radical new invention to Oklahoma City customers: the shopping cart. While it's basic shopping equipment now, it took some work for it to catch on as men reportedly felt it was effeminate and women said it reminded them too much of pushing a baby carriage. Goldman eventually hired men and women to push them around his stores and greeters to explain their use, leading to newfound popularity.

In which Oklahoma City grocery store chain did the shopping cart make its debut?
