Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

Pumpkin spice is a flavor persuasive enough to convince even the least creative folks to try their hands at crafting. Tulsa artist and art educator Laura Voth will bring her expertise to Mother Road Market to lead an evening of Pumpkin Spice Painting. The class is open to anyone who believes coffee can be not only an energizing beverage but also a creative tool. Participants will learn to paint with espresso as they enjoy drinks and treats from Tulsa’s first food collective. Just try to save some of the coffee for the canvas. November 13. Tickets, $30. eventbrite.com

Get Shorty (Plays)

If you prefer your live theatre short, sweet, and utterly original, Claremore has you covered. Rogers State University’s Original Recipe is an annual showcase of short plays written by the Claremore community and performed by RSU theatre students. Since 2005, the RSU Student Theatre Organization has hosted the revue of original one-act plays, drawing bigger crowds with each new showcase of fast-paced entertainment. Grab tickets to this year’s performance, and start preparing your one-act masterpiece to submit next year. November 14-16. Tickets, $3-$12. (918) 343-6825 or facebook.com

All About Abbott

Pull on your warmest socks and your toughest cowboy boots for one of the winter’s hottest country concerts. Josh Abbott Band will visit the Tumbleweed Dance Hall, inviting Okie fans to gather around the Catching Fire tour. The Stillwater hotspot will host the red dirt rocker for a lively night of two-stepping and beer sipping. Nonetheless, any fans who feel they “Oughta Get Drunk” per Abbott’s advice oughta get a designated driver while they’re at it. November 15. Tickets, $15. calffry.com

Good Gourd

Throw your pumpkins in the air! After that, run for cover! Cameron University’s Military Science Club hosts the inaugural Pumpkin Chuckin’ & Fall Festival, a fall festival to honor 110 years of Cameron University and benefit Lawton public schools. In addition to the pumpkin catapults, the event will feature family-friendly games, a corn hole competition, and multiple booths and food stands run by the university’s student organizations. For those seeking a little extra to snack on, a pie eating contest will present a less chaotic way to enjoy the season’s star gourd. November 15. Admission, Free. cameron.edu

Plucking Partners

KOSU presents Rodrigo y Gabriela at the Jones Assembly, a performance highlighting the unique beauty of classical guitar composition with a heavy metal history. The duo, who started as members of the Mexican metal band Terra Acida, have spent the past two decades of their musical career taking the acoustic guitar to new hard rock heights. The release of their latest album Mettavolution blends genres in its display of the pair’s finely tuned musicianship. The concert may even feature the album’s flamenco-infused cover of Pink Floyd’s Echoes, giving music fans of every variety no reason to miss out. November 17. Tickets, $39 and up. eventbrite.com
