Regional Renaissance

Willard Stone, Ed Ruscha, Lois Smoky: Many renowned artists and craftsmen got their start in Oklahoma. But there are plenty of Okies who aren’t necessarily household names but deserve to be honored for their talent and creativity. During Artfully Local: Creations by Dr. Bob Palmer and Holly McHughes, the Oklahoma Territorial Museum & Carnegie Library in Guthrie will showcase the works of two people who help make the state more beautiful every day.
Through September 5. Admission, $4-$7.

C.R.E.A.M. Of the Crop

Wu-Tang is famously for the children, but adults certainly will enjoy seeing this legendary clan in concert at Tulsa’s BOK Center. If special guest Run the Jewels doesn’t entice music lovers enough, Wu-Tang Clan is calling this tour The Final Chamber, so it might be your last chance to hear “Method Man,” “Protect Ya Neck,” “Bring Da Ruckus,” and more live from the iconic rap collective themselves.
June 16. Tickets, $96.20-$263.30.

Grub Hubbub

Every Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. starting June 7, the Ponca City Farmers Market will be bursting with fresh fruits and veggies. There’s also an ever-changing selection of fresh meat, eggs, baked goods, soap, flowers, spices, and so much more. It’s the perfect opportunity to skip the work and still eat farm fresh.
June 17 and Tuesday through September 27. Admission, free.

Leggo My Gecko

Snakes and other cold-blooded creatures serve important roles in the Oklahoma ecosystem. Learning all about them also makes for a fascinating afternoon, and during the Lake Murray State Park Reptile Program, which takes place each Wednesday in June from 1 to 2 p.m., the knowledgeable park staff will teach visitors all about the area’s scaled residents and provide live feeding demonstrations (for those who didn’t just enjoy lunch at Lookout Kitchen).
June 18. Parking, $5.

Head Over Wheels

If you always wished hockey was less cold and featured more women, the Twister City Roller Derby might just be your new favorite sports team. This Saturday, the gals with the grace of ice dancers and the brute force of rugby players will take on South Central. For those who simply cannot get enough high octane rocking and rolling, there’s a second bought pitting the Outlaws against the Lightening Quads at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena in Edmond.
June 21. Tickets, $15-$20.
