Karlie Tipton was born in Edmond and graduated from Edmond Santa Fe High School in 2007. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she obtained a journalism degree in May 2011. She currently attends the Francis Tuttle Technology Center’s Reno campus, where she is working toward a certification in esthetics, a key component within her career goal of being a beauty writer for a magazine or cosmetics company. 

Karlie interned at Oklahoma Today in summer 2010 and was hired as the magazine’s editorial assistant the following August. Her duties include research, writing, and factchecking for the magazine and maintaining its freelance contracts. 

In summer 2011, she worked as an intern at the University of Oklahoma’s NPR affiliate, KGOU, and while there produced her own series on the South by Southwest Music Festival. She enjoys spending time with her dog, Achilles, and her fiancé, Phillip Ybarra.
